In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, takes a high-profile job that is both inappropriate and has geographic implications for her marriage and political future. Producers convinced the American and British governments to allow the use of real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the still-recent US Embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018. Britain allowed filming at the Foreign Secretary’s Office, an honor rarely granted to any film or screen production, especially an American one. The producers used a country house outside the city for filming, although it is accurately described as the largest residential plot of land in London (11 hectares) besides Buckingham Palace.

The characters are fantastically written and they are all enigmas to some extent. Their dialogue is fast-paced and engaging, and the story unfolds in ever-messy political directions. It does not have a strong tone like other similar programs. I want to compare it to House of Cards, but it just doesn’t live up to it.
It feels similar to Night Agent but better
It has a hint of a sequel, but again it doesn’t quite fit. I see reviews complaining about lead and his messy looks and abrasive mannerisms, but that’s his hole! “You want people who don’t *want* to be in power”. Kate focuses on the task at hand and the issue of people’s lives being in balance.
He is good at work, so no one thinks about his behavior
What he wears, how he looks, and even when he sleeps are secondary to the primary function. I thought his style was perfect for the narrative and it was refreshingly fast-paced. The best thing about the show is the relationships they all have with each other. I rarely like every character in a show, but this one did it for me.
